The assessment is divided into two types of review: Operational Impact and Impact Business Models. Within those concepts, it asks questions along four lines: Practices, Outputs, Policies and Outcomes.
This covers the day-to-day running of the enterprise and applies to all companies, regardless of their design or functionality. This part is also aligned with other best-in-class standards that holistically evaluate sustainability. The Operational Impact review is divided across four distinct areas:
- Mission & Engagement
- Training & Education
- Civic Engagement
- Workforce Development
- Suppliers, Distributors & Product
- Renewable Energy
- Transport, Distribution & Suppliers
Impact Business Models
This is unique to the B Impact Assessment; it covers the design and strategic philosophy of the company under review and is tailored to the particular nature of the enterprise. It evaluates some additional aspects of the four Operational Impact areas and then looks at the customer dynamic.
"Taking the B Impact Assessment has been useful as a management tool, creating a real structure and sincerity to the process of doing the best."
