This question explores only the first meeting of a new Teylu - whether that’s their first ever meeting or the first meeting of a new cycle. All others adopt the Regular Teylu format.
The First Teylu - first cycle with new people
If you are a new group of people, then you use the First Teylu format. The purpose of the First Teylu format is to:
- Introduce the Members to one another.
- Explore shared, Teylu values.
- Discuss why the Teylu has formed.
The First Teylu sets the expectations of Members and its reason for being - the Teylu Topic.
The First Teylu - follow on cycle with the same people and the same Topic
If you are beginning a new cycle with the same people (what we call a “Rolling Teylu”) you don’t need to hold a First Teylu meeting because you have already getting to know one another; you can carry on using the Regular Teylu format.
The First Teylu - follow on cycle with the same people but a new Topic
If you are in a Rolling Teylu and plan to change the Topic, it is worthwhile exploring why you have chosen that Topic before you launch into it.
As such, we recommend replacing the first “Authentic Being” discussion you have (Part 2 of the Regular Teylu agenda) with a “Give and Gain” discussion (Part 4 of the First Teylu agenda). This way you begin with an idea of what people hope to contribute and take away from the dialogue.
